Lewis Nickell

Lewis Jones Nickell, the son of Albert and Lulu (Jones) Nickell, was born on April 8, 1923, in Lineville, Iowa, where he was raised and educated, graduating from Lineville High School in 1942. He served throughout Europe during WWII in the United States Army from September 1942 to October 1945, receiving many medals including a purple heart.
On May 27, 1951, Lewis was united in marriage with Janice Peterson at the Open Bible Church in Eagle Grove. The couple lived on a farm east of Eagle Grove and then moved into town in 1954.

Sherwood “Woody” Boyd

Sherwood Laverne Boyd, the son of Sherwood O. and Mary (Parr) Boyd was born on February 8, 1953, in St. Helens, Merseyside, Lancashire, England. In May of 1953, the family moved to Rutland, where he was raised and educated until the family moved to Eagle Grove in 1964 and graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1971. Sherwood served in the United States Navy as an AT Second Class from April 1975 to April 1979. He also attended ICCC in the early 1980’s.

Paul Campbell

Paul Campbell, 75, of Eagle Grove, Iowa passed away July 19, 2024, at Rotary Senior Living.
Paul Gene Campbell was born June 7, 1949, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Gaius Asa and Verla Marie (Doolittle) Campbell. The youngest of nine children, he grew up on the family farm raising livestock and learning to fabricate almost anything. He graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1967. In 1969, he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served for two years.

Sherry Fletcher

Sherry Lee (Christopher) Fletcher, daughter of Lyle Sr. and Helen (Peterson) Christopher was born on February 1, 1953, in Emmetsburg, Iowa. She was raised and educated in Popejoy and graduated from Goldfield High School “Class of 1972”.
On August 19, 1972, Sherry was united in marriage with Jim Fletcher in Goldfield. The couple made their home in Junction City, KS, Germany, San Antonio, TX, and then returned to Iowa (moving around numerous times) before settling north of Goldfield for 23 years.

Bruce Newcomb

Bruce Monroe Newcomb was born October 17, 1950 to Monroe and Gladys Newcomb. After a short illness, he passed away on June 23, 2024 at the age of 73 at the University Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Des Moines, Iowa.
Bruce was raised on the family farm five miles southeast of Eagle Grove, Iowa. After attending the “Troy 6” country school, and the Woolstock school, he attended Eagle Grove High School where he graduated in 1968. Following high school, Bruce attended Iowa State University, and graduated in 1972 with a bachelor’s degree in economics.

Margaret Sundberg

Margaret Ann (Reil) Sundberg was born on February 22nd, 1933 in Charles City, Iowa to Fred and Prudence (Stoyles) Reil. She attended schools in Waterloo, Iowa; Platteville, Wisconsin; Strawberry Point, Iowa; and, after moving to Eagle Grove in the summer of 1950, graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1951.
Upon graduating from Eagle Grove Junior College, she taught kindergarten in Nora Springs, Iowa. Later she worked in the Quaker Oats office in Fort Dodge.

Mike Mathieu

James Michael John (Mike) Mathieu, formerly of Eagle Grove, died peacefully at home on January 15, 2024. Mike had relocated to the Minneapolis St. Paul area and had resided for many years at The Villa (retirement home) in St. Louis Park, MN.

Ellen Krause

Eagle Grove – Ellen Roseann Krause was born on May 3, 1949, near Burt, Iowa, the daughter of Delton Krause (previously deceased) and Lorraine (Heiderscheidt) Krause. She attended special education classes through the 8th grade and lived at home with her family in Eagle Grove. In her early 30’s, Ellen was able to move into a house centrally located to easily access all she needed to live as independently as possible with weekly in-home assistance.

Diane Nelson

Goldfield – Diane Min (Cunningham) Nelson was born on October 31, 1948, in Long Beach, California, the daughter of Daryl Sr. and Jewell (Taylor) Cunningham. The family returned to the Cunningham family farm in Goldfield in 1956. Diane graduated from Goldfield High School in 1966, where she was active in softball, cheerleading, band, choir, basketball manager and was a student librarian. She then attended Bernel School of Cosmetology in 1967 and Iowa Central Community College in 1979.

Colleen Elaine Romsey (Olson)

In the early morning hours of Saturday, August 19, 2023, Co Romsey departed this earthly life and went home to be with Jesus. A celebration of her well-lived life was held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Holmes Lutheran Church in Holmes, Iowa. Visitation began at 9 a.m. The service followed at 10 a.m., with burial to take place at Glenwood Cemetery in Goldfield immediately after.
