How to Make Ghee

  1. In a medium size sauce pan, melt the butter slowly over a low heat. Skim off the milk solids as they float to the top.
  2. Continue to cook the butter until all the milk solids have sunk to the bottom and the liquid is clear. This is clarified butter, keep going for ghee!
  3. Continue to cook for a few more minutes until all the solids at the bottom of the pan have turned brown.
  4. Strain the liquid into a glass container and allow to cool. Cover and store in the fridge. Discard strained milk solids.

Hi Grazyna! I’m not able to make a video just now, however, I hope I can explain it a bit more!

The milk protein that is left over in the butter will separate from the fat and you will see it sitting in the bottom of the clear butter.

You can continue heating until those solids have turned slightly brown (instead of white). Or, once they have separated, you can just pour off the clear butter.

The reason you might wait is because it makes it a bit easier to separate from the ghee.

      I hope that helps!
